Tritium Modules

• Active illumination of “Right Way” and “Wrong Way”.
• Independent of electrical supply and ambient light charging.
• No batteries, bulbs or wiring required.
• Maintenance-free over a long life cycle.
• Absolute reliability – no moving parts or consumable components.
• Tactile wayguidance

The complete system is self-luminous, needing no external or internal electrical power supply. The photoluminescent strips are charged in ambient lighting conditions, whilst the TGLDs within the tactile indicators provide continual red and green wayguidance markers. In the event of reduced visibility the system is immediately evident, providing both visual and tactile guidance to evacuees. The photoluminescent strip will gradually reduce in brightness over a period of 60 minutes whilst the TGLDs continue to emit light even during prolonged periods of total darkness.

This unique system is a hybrid system which combines photoluminescent material and a tritium gas lighting devices (TGLD) which emit light for up to 10 years with no power consumption. The result is a system that brings very significant benefits to users in terms of performance and cost- effectiveness.

This system is ideally suited for use in situations where there is insufficient light to fully charge the photoluminescent material and where the cost of a powered system cannot be justified.

Typical applications include plant rooms, utility corridors, tunnels, etc.

How Does it Work?
TGLDs are self-illuminating light sources which harness gaseous tritium as an energy source to activate phosphor, all encapsulated in a tough, borosilicate glass tube. Activation of the phosphor coating generates light which is emitted steadily throughout the extensive lifetime of the product. TGLDs operate safely in hazardous atmospheres and adverse environmental conditions, from - 60°C to +70°C, even when immersed in water. A polycarbonate enclosure in the form of the Waypoint tactile indicator safely protects the TGLD from physical damage.

Also available: Metal stamped housings to comply with tunnel and sub-surface
Transport fire and toxicisity regulations.
